A Simple Task To Reduce Our Risk Of Infection

Are masks really protecting you? Almost everywhere you go now, you see people wearing cloth masks, surgical masks, and even face shields. Over these past several months, there have been many mixed messages surrounding face masks and the coronavirus. So you may be wondering, will wearing a face mask really protect you against the virus? finally the answer we’ve all been waiting for. The good news about face masks. Experts now suggest that wearing a face mask could be giving people immunity against COVID-19 and helping people get less sick from the virus. Sound too good to be true?

Well. Some others Drs recently stated that wearing face masks may be more protective against COVID-19 than a vaccine. According to experts, vaccines don’t guarantee an immune response in fact, the previously agreements to approve a vaccine that is only 50% effective, could reduce the number of positive COVID-19 cases and hospitalisation. But what about the other 50% it seems that masks might be our best option for protection at this time. While this may not be the solution that you’re looking for, wearing a mask could protect not only yourself but other’s. So how do you choose a good face mask? Here are a few tips:

  1. Ensure a good fit: Your mask should fit snug around your nose and mouth, wrapping, underneath to grab the bottom of your chin.
  2. Consider the fabric: Some fabrics can filter out more virus particles than others so the general rule of thumb is to choose thicker, denser fabrics.

Does social distancing really work? Fall is officially in full swing. And while a coronavirus vaccine appears to be on the horizon... the risk of infection isn’t going away anytime soon. So hopefully you’re still wearing your mask... washing your hands... and social distancing. Because as it turns out, social distancing may be the most effective way to combat COVID-19. Let me explain..?

Keep on keeping your distance. The COVID-19 pandemic has presented us with a unique set of challenges... but maybe the most difficult was changing the way we interact with others. While social distancing may not be easy, but experts finds that it is effective;

  • those who practiced strict social distancing had a much lower chance of infection
  • A social distancing policies prevented million positive COVID-19 cases in few weeks

So why is social distancing and wearing mask so effective. Because it forces people to increase the space between one another and it calls for people to avoid large gatherings and crowds. By increasing the amount of space between individuals, there is less chance that droplets from an infected patient will land in the mouth or noses of people nearby.

So even as some communities begins to slowly reopen. I still recommend you

  • social distancing measures
  • wear a mask
  • wash your hand

For the indefinite future. It’s a simple task to reduce our risk of infection and reduce the risk of spreading the virus to others!
